The £7,000 question: Who’s Cooking Dinner?

It’s time to dig deep for charity, as Who’s Cooking Dinner rolls back into town, offering another multi-course feast cooked by one of 20 Michelin-starred chefs – the question is, who will be cooking for your table?

Who’s Cooking Dinner, now in its 17th year, needs no introduction: the brainchild of Kopapa’s Peter Gordon (whose sister survived leukaemia thanks to his bone-marrow donation) and The Wolseley’s Chris Corbin (himself a leukaemia survivor), it raises money for Leuka, a charity that researches the causes and treatment of leukaemia and other blood cancers. At the event, 20 ‘hosts’ buy a table for 10 of their friends or colleagues at a cost of £7,000 per table. The guests at each table are guaranteed a meal to remember – but they only find out which chef in the all-star line-up will be cooking for them at the pre-dinner draw. After dinner, the services of the 20 chefs are auctioned to the highest bidder – bidders compete to have a meal for 10 cooked by their chosen chef in their home.

This year, the line-up is as follows: Angela Hartnett (Murano), Ashley Palmer-Watts (Dinner by Heston Blumenthal), Brett Graham (The Ledbury), Bruce Poole (Chez Bruce), Chris & Jeff Galvin (Galvin Restaurants), Clare Smyth (Restaurant Gordon Ramsay), Claude Bosi (Hibiscus), Dan Doherty (Duck & Waffle), Francesco Mazzei (Sartoria), Gary Lee (The Ivy), Giorgio Locatelli (Locanda Locatelli), Hideki Hiwatashi (Sake no Hana), Mark Hix (Hix), Nathan Outlaw (Outlaw’s at The Capital Hotel), Nieves Barragán Mohacho (Barrafina), Nuno Mendes (Chiltern Firehouse), Rainer Becker (Zuma), Sally Clarke with Michele Lombardi (Clarke’s), Tim Hughes (Scott’s) and Tong Chee Hwee (HKK). Diners will also be treated to cutting-edge cocktails from award-winning bartender Rich Woods (Duck & Waffle); plus, the auction will include a bespoke artwork by Peter Blake, the Godfather of English pop art.
